Ganesh Himal Trek - 23 Days

This trek is ideal for those wanting to escape from the more popular regions of Annapurna and Everest. It is famous for unspoiled Tamang culture, spectacular views of mountains and colorful rhododendron forest. It also
begins conveniently close to Kathmandu.

During the trip to Ganesh Himal, you can observe the different ways of life culture and able to contact with rural people in the small villages. During the period of your trek you will see the method of living of those rural people in Nepal. Milestone and a kind of wooden machine for hustling rice millet and corn are the significant glamour of the village. You will cross through the 4400m high Sing-La pass offers an excellent view of the massif Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Mt. Manaslu and Annapurna etc. No more tourists are the peculiarity of this region. It might be possible you can't see any foreigner even any modern Nepalese other than local people. You will see 65 percent people are Tamang (semi Mongolian) and rests of them are others. This is why the Ganesh Himal Trekking is known as Tamang cultural Tour.

Itinerary
 

DAY 01:
Arrive Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel, Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 02:
Shopping for trekking look around the heritage city. We can relax and prepare the next day's trip.

DAY 03:
We drive to Trisuli in the morning and have lunch near the Trisuli Electricity dam. After lunch we walk for about 3 hours to Salangkhu Khola and camp.

DAY 04:

An easy walk and then a short climb takes us to Kalawale village for lunch. After lunch we proceed to the big Tamang village of Balche for our overnight camp.

DAY 05:
We take an easy walk from Balche village through a forest and camp with the peaks of Langtang Lirung and Gosainkunda in good view.

DAY 06:
We walk through rhododendron forests this day to camp at Singla or Rupchet. Rupchet is a cattle pasture and Singla is the pass. The Singla pass offers spectacular views of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Baudha Peak, Himal Chuli, Machhapuchhre, South Annapurna and Annapurna II.

DAY 07:

REST DAY AT SINGLA (4,600 mt.)

DAY 08:
We walk up the Singla hill following small trails to Pangsung for our overnight camp. The view from here is spectacular.

Day 09:
We follow the ridge for our campsite of the day, Shomthang. This gives us a close up view of Ganesh Himal.

DAY 10:
Now undertake a gradual climb for the day to reach our campsite at Jogeshwarkund Lake. (Sometimes Shomthang to Jogeshwarkund Lake is not possible due to army training).

DAY 11:
REST DAY AT JOGESHWARKUNDA LAKe

People interested can do rock and peak climbing above 5000m. today.

DAY 12:
Today we start our descent to Linju Khola for our next camp.

Day 13:
We walk down through pine and rhododendron forests to Shertung village and set up camp with a good views of mountains all around. Shertung is a Tamang cultural village.

Day 14 :
A short flat trail and then a gradual descent passing through Borang village followed by crossing the Akhu Khola takes us to Laba, a big Tamang village.

Day 15:
A slight climb to cross a hill and then descend through forests to camp at Mongeythanti.

Day 16:
A gradual walk down through forests with lunch by a stream brings us to our camp at Dumchet village.

Day 17:
We take a gradual walk today to Baseri and camp near the Budigandaki river.

Day 18:
We walk along the bank of Budhigandaki river and stop at Arughat Bazaar for the night. There are tea shops and a police station here.

Day 19:
We gradually climb the Khanchowk Danda crossing the Mukti khola and camp for the night.

Day 20:
We cross a ridge today and walk gradually up hill to Gorkha, camping near the old palace.

Day 21:
We have a sight?seeing tour of Gorkha Palace, the palace of the King Prithivi Narayan Shah who united Nepal in 1881 AD and visit the Bazaar and then drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 22:
Free day in Kathmandu
