Kathmandu hiking - 09 Days

A wonderful way of discovering the countryside around Kathmandu. The hiking program is planned in a manner that will take the visitor past fields, hamlets and forests with a backdrop of mountains. At the end of the day, the visitor is back to the modern comforts of a first class hotel. Of course, should one not feel like it, one can miss out a particular day and still continue the following day, a luxury that is not possible while one is on a trek.We hike to various vantage points in the Kathmandu valley and while on the return, visit some historical or cultural centre.

		Itinerary
		DAY 01: Arrival and transfer to Hotel. In the evening a briefing will be given by the hiking guide. DAY 02: By vehicle we shall precede to Phulbari Gate (140m) from where we will start our hike for Jamachowk (2096m). Hike ends near the Royal Forest at Balaju (Water Parks). By vehicle we continue on to old Kathmandu Durbar Square for sightseeing. Return to hotel. Ascend: 700m Hiking distance: approx. 8 km: Descend: 700m Time: approx. 4 hrs: Overnight at hotel. DAY 03: we travel to Godavari (1593m). Ascend to the summit of Pulchowki (2320m). On return from the summit we shall go to the Godavari Botanical Garden. On the way back, we visit old Patan where we do a bit of sightseeing. Back to the hotel.: Ascend :800m Hiking distance : approx. 10 km: Descend:800m Time : : approx. 6 hrs: Overnight at hotel. DAY 04: We precede to Boudhnath and onto Bramhakhel (1350m). Hike to the temple of Changu Narayan (of the Lichhavi Era) (1658m) and descend to Nagarkot, where the auto will be waiting to take us for sightseeing of old Bhaktapur.: Return to Hotel.: Ascend : 300m: Hiking distance : approx. 7 km: Descend: 150m: Time: : approx. 3 hrs: Overnight at hotel. DAY 05: Today we go to Buddhanilkantha (1440m). From here, start ascending for the summit of Shivapuri (2732m). While descending we shall make a visit to the reclining Vishnu temple of Buddhanilkantha. Return to hotel: Ascend: 1300m: Hiking distance: approx. 11 km: Descend: 1300m: Time: approx. 6 hrs: Overnight at hotel. DAY 06: we head for Kakani (2073m) today. After a short ascend, we begin a gradual descend towards the road near Tin-bible (1500m) where transportation will be waiting to take us to Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple). Return to hotel.: Ascend : 100m: Hiking distance : approx. 8 km: Descend: 600m : Time: : approx. 3 hrs: Overnight at hotel. DAY 07: from Basbari (1480m) we start ascending for the summit of Champadevi (2278m). Descend to Machenaryan (1400m) and visit Kirtipur. Return to hotel. Ascend: 950m: Hiking distance: approx. 14 km Descend: 1050m: Time: approx. 6 hrs. Overnight at hotel. DAY 08: Rest day. DAY 09: ATransfer to airport for onward.
